Accompanying Persons Programme

The Accompanying Persons Programme will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy the social aspects of the Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference 2011 and also to sample some of the highlights of what Scotland has to offer!

Please be advised that Accompanying Persons Programme are not eligible to attend any of the Conference sessions, gain access to the exhibition, or participate in the conference refreshment and lunch breaks.

 

Welcome Reception
Monday 12th September (1930 – 2230 hours)

The Welcome Reception will take place in the Ballroom Foyer and the Exhibition Area of the Hilton Hotel Glasgow on Monday evening.

The evening will give guests an opportunity to meet or catch up with old friends in a relaxed environment.  A fork supper and drinks will be provided, followed by some lively entertainment.

 

Half Day tour of Glasgow City
Tuesday 13th September (0930 – 1300 hours)

Kelvingrove Art Gallery & MuseumThis short introduction to Glasgow will cover a panoramic tour of the City Centre, including the River Clyde, the historic Cathedral and Merchant City, the Georgian grandeur of Blythswood Square, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the University Campus. Enjoy a drive through the Clyde Tunnel to visit the Burrell Art Collection in Pollok Country Park with the chance to see the largest herd of Highland Cattle in Britain.

 

Full Day tour of Stirling Castle & Loch Lomond
Wednesday 14th September  (0930 – 1700 hours
)

Stirling CastleFrom Glasgow, travel northwards to the historic town of Stirling, once the home of the Scottish Kings and Queens. In addition to free time to explore Stirling, you will be given a guided tour of Stirling Castle. The tour then skirts the Fintry Hills and Campsie Fells to Loch Lomond, from there the tour heads to the picturesque village of Luss, where you will have time to stroll through the tiny cottages to the pier. You will also enjoy the panoramic views at Loch Lomond Shores in the Loch Lomond National Park, and have a chance to do some shopping before returning to Glasgow.

Lunch during this tour is not included in the Accompanying Persons Programme package price, however the tour will stop at a convenient place where guests will have a good choice of options for lunch.

 

Glasgow Science Centre
Wednesday 14th September (1900 – 2230 hours)

Glasgow Science CentreThe Glasgow Science Centre, located on the banks of the historic River Clyde, will be the venue for Wednesday evenings entertainment. 

Guests will be able to interact with the many science exhibits whilst enjoying drinks and canapés.  This will be followed by a buffet in the visually stunning Atrium.  Coach transfers will be arranged to and from the venue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Closing Dinner
Thursday 15th September (2000 – 2359 hours)

The conference will be closed by a Dinner which will take place on the evening of Thursday 15th September in the Macintosh Suite of the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.  A drinks reception in the Ballroom Foyer will be followed by a 3-course meal.
